On August 13, 2011, this blog officially changed its name to Adam Toporek’s Customer Service Experience and its focus to customer service and related topics. While this inaugural blog post has been left up for historical purposes, most of the information contained in this post no longer accurately describes the focus of this blog. To learn more about the current direction of this blog, please read My Blog Is Dead; I’m Starting Over.
Happy Valentine’s Day and welcome to my new blog on small business and franchising!
This blog was created to address a wide range of topics related to small business, franchising and entrepreneurship. The goal is to begin a conversation, one that hopefully provides fellow entrepreneurs a resource for strategies and ideas that can help them to become more successful.
One objective of this blog will be to give ample attention to non tech-related business topics. For the millions of us working in the brick and mortar world selling ice cream and massages and janitorial services (preferably not together), we can only read so many articles on how social media is going to revolutionize everything we’ve ever known in our entire lives before we have to figure out how to finance a store expansion, handle a dissatisfied client, or deal with a competitor down the street.
Sure, we’ll talk about social media – how could we not, it’s amazing – but we’ll also talk about why your cousin might be a terrible person to advise you on your negotiation and how to make sure your subcontractors are not ruining your reputation. There seems to be room in the blogosphere for small business and franchising advice that comes directly from the non-digital trenches. I hope this blog can help to fill that space.
I invite you to become a regular reader and subscribe via RSS and email. (Non-techie? Overworked entrepreneur? You simply must read Understanding RSS: A Primer for Busy Entrepreneurs.) And if you do subscribe, I will make you a promise: you will not be blogged to distraction. This blog is purposed with providing quality, useful content to small business owners, franchise seekers, and entrepreneurs. 2-4 posts a week seems just about right for that.
I thank you for reading so far and invite you to continue on to our first post Leverage Versus Debt: A Deadly Distinction. To give you a sense of the site, below are previews of a few of our upcoming posts, as well as links that will help you discover more about me, learn more about IntenseFence Management Solutions, and join us on social media.
All the best,

If the Great Recession has taught us anything, it’s that leverage is not all it’s cracked up to be. Knowing what can happen when your leverage turns to debt can be crucial to your small business survival.
